Australia is surrounded by some of the most pristine oceans, waterways and islands in the world and millions of people travel within Australia and from all over the world to enjoy what we sometimes take for granted. The best way get out on the water is to buy a boat and there are over 800,000 private, recreationally registered vessels throughout the States and Territories of Australia. More than 4% of the Australian population owns a boat and more than 10% of the population regularly enjoys boating activities.
Australia has the world’s second highest percentage of boat owning people per head of population.
Owning a boat, or buying a boat for the first time, can be an exciting phase in your life but it can also be a most stressful and financially crippling encounter if you don’t get good professional advice. The best time to get it is before you purchase your boat but anytime is better than just dealing with a crisis when it happens, as quickly and cheaply as possible, and hoping for the best. Marine surveyors specialize in providing professional advice to boat owners and operators and the Marine Surveyors’ Association Inc (MSA) represents professional members who are there to assist boat owners and operators make good decisions.
